VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump begins tearing down White House East Wing to make way for his ridiculous, $250 MILLION ballroom

Sure, Donald Trump was clearly lying back in July when the vainglorious bastard announced plans to build a ridiculous monument to himself in the form of a White House ballroom and assured the public it wouldn't "interfere" or "touch" the existing building. The man lies as frequently as he breathes, so no surprises there. But for context, it's important to note that the new construction, which will cost upwards of $250 MILLION dollars, will span 90,000 square feet — larger than the ENTIRE existing White House. While our federal government has sputtered to a halt in the midst of a weekslong shutdown of his own making, THIS is how Lord Goldemort is spending his time: literally demolishing part of the White House and wining and dining billionaires and tech bro oligarchs to foot the bill for the vanity project to end all vanity projects. But sure, not a cult, not a grift, and definitely America first.

Trump declares "We are bringing LAW AND ORDER back" days after commuting George Santos' prison sentence
Just 72 hours after commuting the 87-month prison sentence of convicted serial fraudster and former Rep. George Santos and waiving his $374,000 restitution payment, Lord Goldemort declared on his social media platform that he was bringing "LAW AND ORDER back to America." It makes perfect sense if those words mean absolutely nothing to you and meting out justice is a team sport.

America scores a huge win with No Kings rallies — but the fight is only just beginning

No Kings: Saturday's rallies saw 7 million Americans marching against Trump and his authoritarianism. It was an overwhelming success, and it's critical that we carry that momentum forward and keep up the fight. Indivisible is hosting a follow-up mass call TODAY, Tuesday, October 21 at 8PM ET / 5PM PT to discuss where we go from here — click here to RSVP and keep up the pressure on Trump!

Trump's pick to lead Office of Special Counsel hemorrhaging support after wildly racist texts exposed
Turns out a handful of Republicans in the Senate DO have a faint, reddish line that apparently cannot be crossed, even if it means — shudder to think! — angering Dear Leader. Paul Ingrassia, Donald's absymal pick to lead the Office of Special Counsel, has drawn the ire of Sen. Majority Leader John Thune and several GOP Senate Homeland Security Committee members for sharing a whole bunch of incredibly offensive and impressively racist opinions online and in group chats, including calls to "eviscerate" all holidays celebrating Black people, admitting he has a "bit of a Nazi streak" in him, declaring "chinamen" and "Indians" untrustworthy, and this unwitting coup de grace: "Exceptional white men are not only the builders of Western civilization but are the ones most capable of appreciating the fruits of our heritage." Nice. Just another one of Donald Trump's best people, eh?

ICE is hiring dozens of health workers as lawsuits, deaths in custody mount
In perhaps the least surprising news of the day, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement has reported 20 detainee deaths in custody since Donald Trump took office — the most in a single year in decades. The MAGA cult leader's draconian crackdown on brown-skinned people suspected of being born in the wrong geographical coordinates has predictably triggered a health crisis in our nation's woefully ill-equipped and understaffed detention facilities, a situation that has only been exacerbated by the wannabe dictator's ongoing assault on the federal workforce, further eroding already shoddy oversight. And so, belatedly, the Department of Homeland Security is scrambling to hire more than 40 doctors, nurses, psychiatrists, pharmacists, and health administrators to staunch the bleeding, in some cases literally. They might wanna add a few lawyers into the mix, because lawsuits are already underway and more are most certainly coming.

Cops tackle, arrest 61-year-old woman wearing giant penis costume carrying "No dick-tator" sign at No Kings protest in Fairhope, Alabama

This is a real news story in Donald Trump's America. What a timeline.

Trump's woefully inept US Attorney Lindsey Halligan sent journalist DOZENS of texts complaining about her coverage — then tried to claim "off the record" after the fact
Who could've possibly predicted that Trump's installment of a former personal lawyer with paper-thin credentials and nearly zero federal prosecutorial experience to run a department with 300 prosecutors, civil litigators, and support personnel would spectacularly backfire so quickly? Barely three weeks on the job, interim US Attorney Lindsey Halligan for the Eastern District of Virginia sent Lawfare Senior Editor Anna Bower dozens of text messages earlier this month to complain about her reporting on the bogus indictment of New York Attorney General Letitia James — and then attempted to claim after the fact — days later! — that the entire conversation was off the record, which it most certainly was not. Bower initially "assumed the exchange was a hoax," she wrote, because "while it is not unusual for lawyers to reach out to me about my reporting or commentary, it is highly unusual for a US attorney to do so regarding an ongoing prosecution — particularly in a high-profile case in which her conduct is already the subject of immense public scrutiny." Nope! Not a hoax. Just a supremely unqualified MAGA sycophant in waaaay over her head.

CIA playing "most important part" in US strikes in the Caribbean, sources say
America's legally spurious, morally reprehensible "war" on suspected drug traffickers on the high seas is being carried out by — surprise! — the Central Intelligence Agency, which should clearly set everyone's mind at perfect ease. The CIA is reportedly providing the bulk of the intelligence used to carry out the controversial lethal air strikes by the Trump regime against small, fast-going boats in the Caribbean Sea suspected of carrying drugs from Venezuela. Experts say the agency’s central role means much of the evidence used to select which alleged smugglers to kill on the open sea will almost certainly remain conveniently secret, which is in no way deeply troubling since, historically speaking, the CIA has an exceptional track record when it comes to exercising sound judgement and extrajudicial restraint. 🙄

Security at Charlie Kirk memorial cost taxpayers $2.6 million

Well, now, would you look at that. The giant Turning Point USA pep rally memorial service for the slain, far-right provocateur Charlie Kirk at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, last month set US taxpayers back a cool $2,600,000 in security expenses. The nakedly political spectacle, attended by some 90,000 MAGA fans, was complete with pyrotechnics and "celebrity" performances in, ya know, very typical somber memorial fashion.

Supreme Court will consider whether people who regularly smoke pot can legally own guns
Just a thought, but maybe the ONLY people who should legally be allowed to own guns are folks who regularly smoke pot?

Wow, maybe mass-pardoning thousands of criminals who tried to overthrow the government was a bad idea?
