Hey there, it’s Antonio Delgado.

This past Saturday on No Kings Day, I was fortunate enough to attend 5 different rallies across the state. From Forest Hills to Mineola, Nanuet to Brewster and Beacon, the message was the same: New Yorkers will not stand for an authoritarian president implementing cruel and inhumane policies across our country.

But we can’t just fight against Trump and expect to save our democracy. The true poison pill is not the demagogue in the White House. The poison pill to our democracy is that which enables such a figure to emerge and acquire power in the first place — and that is grotesque levels of economic inequality and a broken political system corrupted by concentrated corporate power.

And despite being a blue state, New York's leadership is all too comfortable with maintaining a broken status quo. How else do we explain the growing economic inequality in our own backyard, the fact that 1 and 5 kids in New York live in poverty, and 2 out of 5 households cannot afford basic necessities, all while our state has the third largest economy in the country.

It doesn’t help that Governor Hochul is more concerned with making sure the ultra-wealthy don’t move to “Palm Beach” than she is with making sure everyday New Yorkers don’t get priced out of the state.

And this is why, unlike Hochul, I don’t take corporate PAC money. It is also why we are hoping to make history, by becoming the first statewide campaign to qualify for public matching dollars.

Thanks to this program, all grassroots contributions are matched 6-to-1.

This is our chance to prove that you can reject corporate money and still win statewide in New York, thanks to the power of the people. That’s why I’m writing to you today.

I'm asking, very humbly:

Can I count on you to make a $ or even $ contribution before midnight tonight? We’ll put your donation directly to work, building a competitive campaign. [[link removed]]
