Thousands of Young Republicans’ group chat messages filled with racist, sexist, and homophobic hate speech were revealed this week. Amidst condemnations from many different quarters, Vice President JD Vance attributed the toxic texts to “boys will be boys” chatter.
Yet, it’s clear that the MAGA right has become an incubator of fascist thinking, including praise of Hitler. Is this the inevitable result of the far right’s attack on wokeness? What should be the response? How do communists address these issues in relation to free speech?
