Here’s an update from our campaign:

Twenty days into the federal shutdown, Senate Democrats remain unwilling to vote to reopen the federal government.

Despite the House passing a clean continuing resolution to prevent a lapse in federal funding, Democrats in the Senate are demanding $1.5 trillion in new spending in order to reopen the federal government.

Despite the shutdown, I am committed to working for Wisconsin families.

Fighting for Wisconsin Students

Earlier this year, Republicans in Congress passed legislation creating a new school tax credit scholarship program.

This program creates a dollar-for-dollar tax credit of up to $1,700 ([link removed]) for charitable donations to Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGO’s).

SGOs then can award scholarships to working families to support ([link removed]) a variety of educational needs including books, tuition, school supplies, and supports for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This program would benefit students and families in both public and private schools.

For families to be eligible for these scholarship, states must opt in.

Unfortunately, Governor Evers has not ([link removed]) done so.

Last week, I led Republicans in the Wisconsin congressional delegation in writing to Evers, urging him to reverse course.

I joined Vicki Mckenna ([link removed] ) on WISN 1130 today to talk about this issue and the need to provide these resources to Wisconsin families. You can listen to our discussion at the link here ([link removed] ) .

Who are Democrats’ Protest Partners?

This week, Democrats held protests across the country. Democrats partnered ([link removed]) with the Communist Party of America and Democrat Socialists organizations in promoting these events - something the legacy corporate media has refused to cover.

In Milwaukee, individuals from the Freedom Road Socialists of America (FRSA) had speaking roles. FRSA advocates for the dismantling of capitalism, red theory study sessions, and revolution in America.

At the event they:
* Spoke against federal law enforcement and immigration officials
* Cheered for the number of Palestinian, not American, flags on display
* Referenced the need to unite from Chicago to Milwaukee

While Democrats in Wisconsin are focused on the failed policies of Illinois and California, I remain focused on delivering for working families and seniors including:
* Delivering historic ([link removed]) security at our southern border
* Securing our elections and preventing ([link removed]\) non-citizens from voting
* Lowering costs ([link removed]) for working families and seniors, including new $6,000 ([link removed]) senior tax deduction and an expanded $2,200 ([link removed]) child tax credit
