John,

This morning the Supreme Court sided with the Trump administration in Little Sisters of the Poor Saints Peter and Paul Home v. Pennsylvania, ruling that employers can deny birth control coverage, as provided for by the ACA, on religious grounds or personal beliefs.

My Democratic AG colleagues and I did not hesitate to challenge Trump's appalling proposal. Your boss should have no say in your personal health care decisions.

Today's ruling is an immediate blow to access to health care. Low income, Black and Latinx people, who already face barriers to affordable care, will suffer the worst consequences.

SCOTUS also showed us today the precarious state of our basic rights. The effects of this ruling will extend far beyond just contraception coverage.

This is a big step backward for affordable health care, equality, and reproductive freedom. But our fight is not over. You have my word: I will not rest as long as extremists are working against our fundamental rights to control our bodies and our lives.

Ellen
