John, public servants should act in the best interests of the people they serve.
It doesn’t seem like something we should have to say, but I want to be very clear about where I stand on this. Far too many elected officials serve their own interests — their political party or their personal power — first.
If it weren’t clear enough that too many GOP legislators aren’t in politics to serve the people, we only have to look at their “Big, Beautiful Bill.”
Just who is helped by making massive cuts to Medicaid or forcing families in need off of SNAP?
Republican lawmakers are trading food for hungry children and health insurance for working families in exchange for tax breaks for the wealthiest among us. This feathers their own nest, and it doesn’t make America stronger.
What Washington Republicans are doing is unconscionable. Cruel. A dereliction of their duty to the people of this nation. And John, most GOP lawmakers know all this — but they’re going to keep trying to enact their ruthless agenda because that is what their party leaders demand, and because they’re worried they could lose the support of their billionaire donor base if they don’t fall in line.
I’m no stranger to standing up to the GOP and fighting to deliver for the people. I’m ready to do so again in the U.S. Senate. But my MAGA opponent is calling upon every powerful politician and dark-money group he can in an attempt to defeat me, so I need your help.
I’m asking you to contribute today to our campaign for the U.S. Senate so we can get back to work delivering for all Americans.
Our people deserve better. Let’s make sure they get it.
Thanks,
Roy Cooper
