Friend,

This past weekend, gun violence continued to ravage Black communities. In Chicago, 16 people were killed and 69 people were wounded in shootings. In New York, 63 people were shot in at least 44 incidents. Nationwide, at least six children were killed in gun violence incidents over the weekend.

We need your help to stop the bleeding.

It is past time for policy makers to invest in our communities versus just lock our people up. We know that community-led solutions work. We know that gun violence has always been a conflict resolution method in many of our neighborhoods. We know that gun violence has always been a response to poverty and desperation. Shootings are up in many areas of the country, and many policy leaders are once again misdiagnosing the problem.

Here are 3 (urgent) ways to take action in your communities (today):

  1. Tell us what you need on the frontlines: If you are a frontline activist working on gun violence in our cities, and would like to complete the survey, please email Chico Tillmon ([email protected]) for more information.
  2. Educate yourself and your community: Tune into our last webinar on local, state, and national advocacy efforts to end gun violence HERE
  3. Take Action: Text JUSTICE to 79606 to receive rapid updates and ways to take action, including making calls to your local policy makers to hold them accountable, or joining a local chapter of CJAF.

We need you now more than ever. Please join us. Spread the word. Our communities are worth it investing in.

In solidarity,
