Friend, this past Saturday will go down in history.
|
|
Tens of thousands of Coloradans showed up for the No Kings rally in Aurora, Colorado and 50 towns and cities across our state – and stood up for our democracy when it needs us the most.
|
|
|
|
As Donald Trump and his administration:
|
- Deploy troops into American cities,
- Send masked agents into immigrant communities,
- Indict their political enemies,
- Drive our economy to the brink,
- Flout the rule of law, and
- Defy the authority of Congress and the courts,
|
|
We came together this weekend, alongside millions of our fellow Americans across the country, to say loud and clear and in one voice: The President is NOT a king.
|
|
Our young nation's history has always been a battle between humanity's worst impulses and its highest ideals. And at this pivotal moment, none of us can afford to give up, tune out, or waste away our days consuming cable news or social media.
|
|
To do so would dishonor the great Americans who gave their lives to abolish slavery, extend suffrage to women, put an end to segregation, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and the generations who will follow us.
|
|
Our responsibility is to live up to their example. And that is exactly what we did on Saturday – together.
|
|
Together, we showed America that we don’t have to accept chaos and tyranny as our future.
|
|
Together, we are choosing hope over hatred, decency over domination, freedom over fearmongering.
|
|
And together, I will ensure that Colorado continues to lead the nation in the fight against Trump, and for our democracy, as the governor of our great state – so now, I must humbly ask for your support in this race.
