Friend, I helped write and pass the Colorado AI Act, the first AI regulation law in the nation. 
It grants Coloradans the right to know when AI impacts them, demands corporate transparency, and safeguards against bias and abuse. It’s a groundbreaking step to keep people, not profit, at the center of technological progress. We will be updating this policy in the 2026 legislative session to better define key terms and shift liability so that AI developers share responsibility, not just those who use it. AI can be powerful, from banking to public safety, but it poses risks like scams, disinformation, and systemic vulnerabilities, which can be devastating. As I run for Colorado’s next State Treasurer, this issue is urgent. We need someone with the knowledge and the courage to stand up to powerful interests and keep Coloradans safe. The Treasurer protects taxpayer dollars, pensions, and investments, and must stand against cyber threats. I’ve proven I’m willing to take on the tough fights – even filibustering my own party when corporate lobbyists tried to gut our AI protections (you can read more about this in my Rolling Stone op-ed!).
