Message from Congressman Scott Fitzgerald
Good afternoon, everyone!
It has now officially been over a month since House Republicans passed a clean CR on September 19th to keep the government open. Unfortunately, Senate Democrats are holding the federal government hostage in order to push their far-left policy agenda.
Important information is listed below, clearing up common lies being spread about the government shutdown in the mainstream media:
As a friendly reminder, my team and I are here to help. Both my Oconomowoc and Washington, D.C. offices remain fully open during the government shutdown. Please don't hesitate to reach out or visit my website if you have any questions or need assistance with a federal agency.
Keep reading on to hear additional updates about what's been happening in Washington and Wisconsin. I hope you have a great week.

Wisconsin Republican Congressional Delegation Calls for Governor Evers to End Opposition to Scholarship Program
Last week, I joined my colleagues in the Wisconsin Republican congressional delegation in urging Governor Evers to end his opposition to the newly created federal tax credit scholarship program that provides enhanced educational opportunities for K-12 students.
Governor Evers stated in a September 4th interview that he would not opt the State of Wisconsin into this program. Low- and middle-income families deserve access to the same quality educational opportunities as those who are more fortunate. Denying Wisconsin families access to these scholarships for the sake of partisan politics is irresponsible, unfair, and counterproductive to our shared goal of improving educational outcomes for Wisconsin students.
Breitbart: Veterans and Reservists in Republican Study Committee Blast Schumer in Letter Over Shutdown
Our military’s readiness isn’t a bargaining chip. I’m proud to stand with my Republican Study Committee colleagues, all veterans and reservists, in calling out Senator Schumer for blocking Republicans’ clean CR. Every day Senate Democrats refuse to act, our troops and their families pay the price. It’s time to stop the games and get this government reopened.
Rep. Fitzgerald Talks Insane Provisions in the Democrats’ Radical CR
In case you missed it, I recently joined OAN's Fine Point with Chanel Rion to discuss the radical wish list Democrats have included in their "proposal" to reopen the government.
When you read what's actually in the Democrats’ radical CR, it sounds like a new DOGE report listing examples of government waste, fraud, and abuse. The American people don’t want their hard-earned taxpayer dollars spent on this insanity. That’s why House Republicans passed a clean CR.
Congressional App Challenge
My office is once again participating in the Congressional App Challenge for middle and high school students (up to teams of 4) who live or attend school in Wisconsin's 5th Congressional District.
Students can apply online and upload their demo video by October 31st.
The first-place winner(s) will be invited out to Washington D.C. for the 2026 #HouseOfCode to demo their app for legislators and program sponsors including: Meta, Amazon Web Services, Comcast, etc.
Please contact my Oconomowoc District Office with any additional questions.
