Wednesday: US policy advisor Samantha Sutton joins Word on the Street

J Street

Friend,

When I was working in the White House, we started planning for the “day after” in Gaza just a week after October 7, 2023 – running through multiple scenarios to replace Hamas, weighing numerous outcomes of post-war governance and thinking through how to transform a ceasefire agreement into a lasting peace.

Now that the Trump Administration has finalized a deal that includes many of these ideas, it is time to put them into action. But the ceasefire is fragile, the stakes are enormous and the next steps will define the region.

This Wednesday, October 22 at 4pm Eastern / 1pm Pacific, I’ll be joined live on Substack by Samantha Sutton, a seasoned political advisor who has been in backdoor rooms shaping US policy toward Israel and Palestine across three administrations. Sam and I worked together on these challenges at the White House, and we’ll be talking through how we see things going forward.

No need to register for the call beforehand. You’ll get an alert in your inbox on Wednesday to tune in once Sam and I are live and on screen.

Sam knows the history, the players and the likely outcomes better than anyone else. She has a particularly unique perspective as she was part of the team that negotiated the ceasefire in January 2025 as the outgoing Biden team worked with the incoming Trump team during the transition of power.

Subscribe to Word on the Street to catch the live interview and our future calls, all held at a regular standing time of Wednesdays at 4pm Eastern / 1pm Pacific >>

Looking forward,

Ilan Goldenberg
