"“Rapidly transporting Wyoming energy to key domestic and Asian markets will grow the Cowboy State economy.”"
*CHEYENNE, Wyo. - Oct. 20,2025* - On Monday, Governor Mark Gordon (R-WY) participated in the "New Mexico and Wyoming Advanced Energy Landscape Roundtable "meetings in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The Governor joined New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and Japanese Ambassador to the United States Shigeo Yamada.
The roundtable discussions focused on prioritizing Rocky Mountain natural gas for global and domestic sale, streamlining regulatory processes and enabling public-private partnerships. All of these are critical to ensure Western states like Wyoming can deliver new energy fast and affordable to growing markets. By lowering shipping costs and shortening transit times, Wyoming gas becomes even more competitive.
“Wyoming gas is uniquely well suited for domestic use and export. Rapidly transporting Wyoming energy to key domestic and Asian markets will grow the Cowboy State economy,” Governor Gordon said. “While today’s discussions often focused on gas, we also set the foundation to ensure Wyoming energy and critical minerals have increased markets.”
During the discussions a study, "Rocky Mountain Gas Roadmap and Implementation Playbook" [ [link removed] ], was presented. The study identifies two infrastructure routes that position Rocky Mountain natural gas as a leading and cost-effective solution for both increasing domestic and international energy demands, beating out gas transported from the Gulf coast.
Wyoming along with other Western states and Native American tribes helped fund the study, which identifies two key routes, the Pacific Northwest Pathway and the Southwest Pathway. These routes would use existing infrastructure and rights-of-way to transport Wyoming and Rocky Mountain gas to growing markets in the U.S.
They would also provide the fastest, cheapest route to Asian markets and avoid Panama Canal delays, a plan strongly supported by Governor Gordon.
Governor Gordon continued discussions with the Japanese Ambassador, building on previous talks in Japan focused on promoting Wyoming energy in crucial Asian markets.
“Asian markets will continue to drive global demand for energy, and Wyoming can and should be at the forefront of that opportunity. Guaranteeing a fast, effective route to transport our natural gas to Asia will ensure Wyoming’s core industries future is indeed bright,” Governor Gordon said.
