Home ownership is one of the surest paths to building wealth. But in 2025, buying a home is easier said than done.
There aren't enough affordable homes to go around, forcing families to overstretch their budgets or pay absurd rent prices just to keep a roof above their heads.
We're facing a housing crisis. It’s time our leaders did something about it.
That’s why I recently voted for the Renewing Opportunity in the American Dream (ROAD) to Housing Act. This bipartisan legislation includes several bills I cosponsored:
- Increasing financing for housing projects, especially in Baltimore, with the Bipartisan Community Investment and Prosperity Act
- Creating a pilot program to fund home repairs for low- and middle-income homeowners with the Bipartisan Whole-Home Repairs Act
- Funding affordable housing grants with the HOME Investment Partnerships Reauthorization and Improvement Act
- Combating bias in home valuations with the Appraisal Modernization Act
I also recently cosponsored a separate bill to create a refundable tax credit for first-time homebuyers.
There are solutions to this crisis, and I’ll do whatever it takes to ensure hardworking Marylanders pay fair rent prices, can afford to buy homes, and build wealth for the future. Will you take a moment to chip in just $5 to support this important work on behalf of the good people of Maryland?
Together,
Angela Alsobrooks
