VIDEO OF THE DAY: Mike Johnson absolutely bombs in nightmare live interview

During a disastrous appearance on ABC's "This Week," House Speaker and Very Pious Man™ Mike Johnson was caught telling a whopper of a lie by host Jon Karl, and the lying liar simply could not lie his way out of his own mess. Citing a completely made-up "Pelosi precedent," Johnson feebly defended his refusal to swear in Democratic Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva, who curiously would give the House the deciding vote needed to finally force the release of the infamous Epstein files. We're not sure which is worse: the steaming pile of horseshit Johnson is serving up or the arrogance required to believe the American public will actually swallow it.

Newsom blasts "reckless" JD Vance after shrapnel from live military round hits vice president's motorcade on California freeway during Marine celebration
The Trump administration's hare-brained, military show-of-force spectacle in California went predictably awry on Saturday when a live, 155-millimeter shell fired over a frickin' freeway prematurely detonated — raining shrapnel fragments on the road below and striking...Vice President JD Vance's security motorcade. Seriously. Were it not for California Gov. Gavin Newsom's 11th-hour order closing a 17-mile stretch of Interstate 5, the highway would have been open to the public and jammed with vehicles. "We love our Marines and owe a debt of gratitude to Camp Pendleton, but next time, the Vice President and the White House shouldn't be so reckless with people’s lives for their vanity projects," Newsom tweeted on Sunday.

Take Action: Demand Congress act NOW to stop Trump from becoming a dictator!

America scores a huge win with No Kings rallies — but the fight is only just beginning

No Kings: Saturday's rallies saw 7 million Americans marching against Trump and his authoritarianism. It was an overwhelming success, and it's critical that we carry that momentum forward and keep up the fight. Indivisible is hosting a follow-up mass call TOMORROW, Tuesday, October 21 at 8PM ET / 5PM PT to discuss where we go from here — click here to RSVP and keep up the pressure on Trump!

DHS skirts shutdown to buy $172 MILLION jets for Kristi Noem while TSA goes without pay
The magnitude of disdain one must actually possess for ordinary Americans to drop $172 MILLION in taxpayer funds on brand-new Gulfstream jets during a government shutdown that has left tens of thousands of TSA agents unpaid for weeks is nearly immeasurable. Leave it to Gestapo Barbie Kristi Noem to set a new bar in just how low Republicans are willing to go when it comes to fucking over the very people who make air travel safe and secure. For perspective, the average TSA security screener earns roughly $43,000 a year, or approximately $826 a week. If you're one of approximately 50,000 TSA security personnel entering a fourth week without pay, you might be more than a little curious where South Dakota's most infamous puppy killer found an extra $172,000,000 just laying around for her new fancy new toys — damn near, down-to-the-dollar the amount required to cover four weeks of payroll for EVERY TSA screener in the country. But sure, Democrats and coastal elites are out of touch.

Lawmakers slam ICE after US military veterans are arrested, injured
A damning report by The Guardian has identified at least eight instances in which military veterans have been prosecuted or sought damages after being wrongfully detained by overzealous federal agents doing Donald Trump's autocratic bidding. The appalling mistreatment has not gone unnoticed, as some of the most decorated military veterans in Congress are airing their grievances. "I went to war three times for this country to defend the right of Americans to say things I may not like," said Representative Jason Crow, a Democrat from Colorado and former Army Ranger who was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in Iraq. "Now is the time for every American to speak out." Senator Tammy Duckworth, a Democrat from Illinois who received a Purple Heart after her helicopter was shot down over Iraq, said, "No one — especially those who have already sacrificed so much for this country — should ever be assaulted, detained, or thrown in solitary confinement for peacefully protesting government overreach."

Prince Andrew asked police to help smear sexual abuse accuser, newspaper says
Britain’s Prince Andrew asked police in 2011 to dig up personal information about Virginia Giuffre, the woman who credibly accused him of repeatedly sexually abusing her as a teenager, a British newspaper reported on Sunday, days after the disgraced royal gave up his "Duke of York" title. London’s Metropolitan Police said it was "actively looking" into the allegations. Buckingham Palace did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Andrew, the younger brother of King Charles, said on Friday he would no longer use his title following years of criticism about his abhorrent behavior and damning connections to the infamous pedophile and sex trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein. What a guy.

Marco Rubio betrayed drug gang informants to seal El Salvador prison deal, report says

Secretary of State Marco Rubio reportedly agreed to abandon confidential informants who were protected by the US government to seal a deal with El Salvador’s president, who in exchange agreed to indefinitely detain dozens of Venezuelan deportees in a brutal Salvadoran prison. The arrangement, inked in the days leading up to the MAGA cult leader's bullshit invocation of the Alien Enemies Act to summarily deport immigrants he claimed were Venezuelan gang members, gave the Trump regime access to the notorious Terrorism Confinement Center, or CECOT, decried by human rights groups as a "tropical gulag" and concentration camp that has been central to a first wave of the president’s mass deportation agenda. If you're prone to putting 2 and 2 together you'll likely come to the same conclusion we did: the State Department can kiss goodbye the prospect of cooperation from future would-be confidential informants when our government's word is as sacred and trustworthy as Donald's marital vows.

Former school board president launches campaign to put a stop to Greg Abbott’s carnival of corruption

Gina Hinojosa for Governor: Gina Hinojosa was just an ordinary Texas mom — until Greg Abbott tried to close her son’s public school as part of his plot to turn our schools into for-profit schemes. Gina got involved in politics to fight back, her journey taking her to the school board presidency and the state legislature. Now she’s running to kick Greg Abbott out for good and put an end to his kleptocracy of MAGA extremism and flagrant corruption. Will you chip in to help kick-start her campaign?

Trump threatens to invoke Insurrection Act to assert "unquestioned power" as he declares latest target in National Guard troop deployment stunt
Stop us if you've heard this one before. Donald Trump is threatening to invoke the Insurrection Act and tap into "unquestioned power" if Democrats continue pushing back on his wildly unconstitutional use of National Guard troops to fight crime supercede local police departments who do not require assistance and his use of ICE and Border Patrol agents to round up and disappear immigrants and suspected immigrants alike. "Don’t forget, I can use the Insurrection Act. Fifty percent of the presidents almost have used that. And that’s unquestioned power," Trump said. You won't be surprised to learn the wannabe dictator's math is, uh, way off. The Insurrection Act has been invoked by 15 presidents (out of 45), but who's counting? Obviously not Donald.

Trump bemoans "whacked-out" No Kings protesters: "I'm not a king — I work my ass off!"
While talking to an AP reporter on board Air Force One yesterday, the MAGA cult leader laughably claimed the SEVEN MILLION people who took part in Saturday's nationwide "No Kings" protests were nothing more than radical left lunatics and outcasts and declared the historic, show-of-force rallies as "very small and very ineffective." Nonetheless, an obviously irritated Trump then felt obliged to offer up this comical defense of his nakedly authoritarian presidency: "By the way, I'm not a king. I'm not a king — I work my ass off to make our country great, that’s all it is. I’m not a king, at all." This coming from a man who just hours before shared an AI-generated video of himself flying a fighter jet — while wearing a literal crown — and dropping payloads of diarrhea on city streets packed with American protesters. Seriously. Oh, and about that working his ass off bit, Donald was actually returning to DC from his THIRD STRAIGHT weekend of taxpayer-funded golfing during the ongoing federal government shutdown of his own making. C'mon, Donald. Even you can do better than that.

Trump denies demanding Zelenskyy cede entire region to Putin as conflicting reports claim he told Ukrainian leader to accept Russia's terms or "be destroyed"
Donald Trump denied reports that he pressed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to surrender the Donbas region to Russia, insisting that "we never discussed it" and that his only demand was for both sides to "stop right now at the battle lines." Curiously — or perhaps not when taking into account just how geographically challenged America's wannabe dictator is prone to be — the Donbas region of Ukraine is currently largely under Russian control. But we digress... Donald's denial came after a Financial Times report described a volatile closed-door meeting at the White House on Friday that allegedly devolved into a "shouting match" between Trump and Zelenskyy. Citing European officials briefed on the exchange, the report said Trump adopted Russian President Vladimir Putin’s talking points "verbatim," warning the Ukrainian leader that "if [Putin] wants it, he will destroy you."
