I want to tell you briefly about my journey to Congress, because it shapes everything I do.

My twin brother Alex and I were born in Soviet Ukraine to a Jewish family during the height of the Cold War. It was a place where speaking freely was often dangerous. It was safer to keep our heads down and our mouths shut.

My father made the brave choice to flee that life and seek a better one for our family. Because of his sacrifice and the opportunities this country provided, we were able to achieve the American Dream.

So when the time came, my brother and I proudly joined the military to give back to the country that gave us freedom.

I wouldn’t be here, serving in Congress, without this journey – and I’ve never forgotten it.

But now I’m seeing the same patterns of authoritarianism we once fled, here in America. I see freedoms – quietly, then overtly – being stripped away by the Trump Administration. Firing military leaders who aren’t loyal enough. Turning civil servants into targets. Deploying armed troops to American cities, not for safety, but to intimidate.

We know how this story goes if we don’t stop it. When we stay silent, fear wins.

But I won’t stay silent.

That’s why I’m running to hold my seat – and why I need your help. Trump and his allies are going all-in to flip this seat. Not just to defeat me but to send a message: That anyone who speaks out will pay the price.

We can’t let that stand.
