October 20, 2025

Dear John:

We are now twenty days into the Schumer shutdown. Twenty days of Democrats being more willing to hold fast to their far-left base than to reopen the government. Twenty days of federal workers, like TSA agents and federal law enforcement, going without pay. Twenty days of the Democrats showing their priority of funding healthcare for illegal immigrants instead of caring about mothers and children who depend on programs like WIC for milk and food.

President Trump secures pay for our Troops

This past week, our U.S. troops would have not received their mid-month paycheck due to the Democrat shutdown. Even though our troops are putting their lives on the line every day, the Democrats have chosen to continue to put their own agenda first, not putting America and Americans first.

President Trump made sure our troops did not miss a paycheck. At the request of the president, $8 billion of research and development funds were shifted in order to be able to pay them at this time during the shutdown.

Thank you, President Trump, for ensuring our troops are provided for!

Letter to fund ICE and Federal Police

I joined Congressman Bill Huizenga (MI) in writing a letter to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in support of efforts to pay federal law enforcement during the current government shutdown.

We stated in the letter, "Federal law enforcement are currently performing dangerous, mission-critical work without pay—including Border Patrol, ICE agents, CBP officers, DEA, Secret Service, Federal Air Marshals, and Transportation Security Officers... Those who valiantly defend our homeland should not see their morale or readiness undermined by Democrat political games or the uncertainty of their next paycheck."

Again, I am glad to see President Trump is making sure our troops were paid and didn't miss their last paycheck. Now it is time to make that we pay our homeland defenders and federal law enforcement officers.
