Hey John, this is Jocelyn Benson.

I bet you’re getting a ton of fundraising emails and texts that claim the sky is falling and the only way to save our democracy is by chipping in right this second. Trust me, I get them too — and I am not a fan.

You won’t get that type of exaggerated urgency from me. We’re focused on the real stakes of this race.

There is no doubt about it: The 2026 election for Michigan’s next governor is going to be close.

We’ve got a long road ahead of us and a lot of work to do to ensure our victory. I’m running against well-funded opponents who are losing to me in the polls but still pulling out all the stops and bullying tactics with wealthy, deep-pocketed special interests to get ahead.

We are building a campaign that is ready for whatever our opponents throw at us. Because Michigan’s future matters. And we’re here to win.

But here’s the truth: Today is a very real and very important fundraising filing deadline. The most important one in this entire campaign. Filing a strong report is the best way to signal to our opponents and their wealthy allies that we will fight and win this race.
