John,
Eliot Engel just can’t accept the fact that he lost to Justice Democrat Jamaal Bowman in NY-16.
Eliot Engel and his team have filed a lawsuit to challenge decisions about whether or not an absentee vote should count. Not only would this further delay counting every single absentee ballot, but it could also wind up disenfranchising voters.
Jamaal’s team isn’t just standing by and letting Eliot Engel get away with it. They’ve put together a legal team to take on these challenges and make sure every vote is counted in NY-16.
Jamaal’s win was decisive and is statistically confirmed. He’s more than ready to get to work to fight for the people of New York’s 16th District and advocate for bold policies like the Green New Deal, Medicare for All, and ending our systems of mass incarceration and deportation.
But because of Eliot Engel’s lawsuit, Jamaal has had to put some of that work on hold in order to shift his attention to work with the campaign’s legal team in challenging Engel’s lawsuit.
Thank you for your support,
Team JD
