Worst-case Scenario: Democrats could lose their razor-thin majority in the House of Delegates – the chamber that must vote again to advance the Reproductive Freedom Amendment – preventing the Reproductive Freedom Amendment from advancing. That is the future anti-abortion rights candidates want. Republicans are desperate for Virginia to fall in line with other Southern states and restrict or even ban abortion.

Best-case Scenario: We maintain a pro-choice majority in the House of Delegates and State Senate, AND we elect a pro-choice Governor. With pro-choice legislators in control of our state, we can pass the Reproductive Freedom Amendment and put it on the ballot for voters to decide whether or not to make abortion a constitutional right in Virginia in 2026.
Codifying reproductive freedom into our State Constitution is crucial. As the federal government attacks birth control, abortion medication, healthcare, Planned Parenthood, and more, we must do everything possible to protect access in Virginia – and this November’s elections are critical to making that happen.
