Help the Dems!
We need your help, and your voice!
If you are feeling down in these tense and difficult political times, if you think you don't have a voice, that is not true. This is the time to stand up for our Town, our County, our State, and our Country. Action can be taken in many different ways, from online activism, letter writing to the paper, calling local, state and higher up officials, to running for local or higher office. If you feel frustrated, are looking for ways to make a difference, being involved is the best way to do so.
This means showing up when you can, and using your voice. Ask questions, even difficult ones. This is our community, your community. Let's support each other when we are confronted with difficulty.
Two major events happening this week, both on October Thursday, October 23d:
The first is an anti-housing meeting happening at the Teton County Library, organized by Rebecca Bextel. Under the guise of tax and financial questions, Mrs. Bextel, Founder of the Save the Rodeo Grounds and Eyes on Wyoming, anti-affordable housing and public tax watchdog groups, will be hosting a meeting to attempt to explain why certain people are not allowed to live in affordable housing, and why affordable housing is not needed in Teton County. Please show up at 5:30 pm, at the library auditorium, to ask as many questions as possible as to why she thinks we don't need affordable housing here, who she believes should live here, and if cooperation is possible on this issue. Please be serious, and respectful.
The second is the Immigration Swap Meet, at the Library fireplace, at 7 pm. This discussion has a strong potential to create "lively debate", which is why we need as many of you as possible to show up. This is a strong opportunity to show that we believe in strong, legal, safe immigration and are against the mass deportations and street arrests we have been seeing all over the country. We ask that all those attending read the articles/discussion items beforehand, and do your best to keep the questions to those items. While there will be debate, and possibly difficult questions and comments, please remain strong, respectful and passionate.
