Dear Reader,

FIRST THINGS invites you to join us for our thirty-eighth annual Erasmus Lecture ([link removed]) at the Union League Club in New York City. This seminal event began as a gathering of men and women Rev. Richard John Neuhaus believed would help shape a modern Christian humanistic approach to culture, education, and faith.

This year’s lecture, “In Praise of Translation,” will be given by Bishop Erik Varden. Bishop Varden spent ten years at the University of Cambridge, after which he joined Mount Saint Bernard Abbey in England as a Trappist monk. He was ordained a priest in 2011, and named bishop of Trondheim in 2019 by Pope Francis.

We hope you are able to join us for the lecture and this celebration of

FIRST THINGS.

Sincerely,

Matteo Moran
