Hello there,
Over 70% of Americans say they’d like the option to vote by mail in November.
Five states: Washington, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, and Hawaii, have conducted their elections almost exclusively by mail for years -- and all available evidence indicates those elections are entirely free and fair, with no advantage to either party once ballots are counted.
In short: vote-by-mail is incredibly popular, incredibly effective, and -- at a time of historic public health concern -- incredibly necessary for the upcoming November election.
But, unsurprisingly, Donald Trump is opposed to the idea, even though he himself voted by mail earlier this year.
Instead of making sure Americans can safely vote, he’d prefer Americans just didn’t cast their votes in the 2020 election -- because Trump’s best chance of winning reelection is if he can disenfranchise millions of voters.
Simply put: low turnout is the only way this historically unpopular president can hope to snag a second term.
We rebuke the president’s deceitful partisan ploy. We demand that Americans have their voices heard and their demands met. And we will fight to make sure that no one is made to vote in an unsafe manner in November (or have their right to vote suppressed altogether).
