Open Records, Honest Elections
Across America, the work of election transparency is underway. True the Vote has now submitted 250 public records requests — one to every state and to the 200 largest counties — seeking a single answer:
“Please describe any actions you have taken, or intend to take, to ensure compliance with President Trump’s Executive Order 14248: Preserving and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections.”
The responses have been telling. Some states are cooperating. Others are resisting. Still others behave as if citizens have no right to ask — or don’t have any knowledge of the EO.
Wild. Btw, if you want to read EO 14248, you can see it here.
And, you can follow the latest updates and read all the state and county responses as they arrive on our Open Records: Honest Elections pageon the True the Vote website.
SCOTUS and the Voting Rights Act’s Defining Moment
This week, the Supreme Court heard arguments in Robinson v. Landry, a pivotal Louisiana redistricting case that could reshape how Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act is applied nationwide. At the heart of the case is a fundamental question: should states be compelled to draw districts based primarily on race.
Activists on the Left argue that the Voting Rights Act requires race-conscious districts to ensure minority representation. Meanwhile, those on the Right contend that such mandates violate the Constitution, warning that “separate but equal” solutions cannot deliver genuine equality.
The outcome won’t just affect Louisiana; hundreds of similar lawsuits are pending across the country, and all will be impacted by the Supreme Court’s ruling. For ongoing legal updates and background, you can consult the American Redistricting Project’s dedicated site.
In case you’re wondering, it’s our position that every eligible citizen, regardless of race or region, deserves equal treatment under the law. Disproportionate impact is real, and can be difficult to address, but grouping people by ethnicity is absolutely not the solution.
This case will set a national precedent for how representation and equality are defined. We will keep watching closely.
Tina Peters: A Call for Justice
Many of us have followed the story of Tina Peters, the former Mesa County Clerk from Colorado who raised serious concerns about election security and paid a steep personal price for doing so. Tina has been in prison since October 2024.
There’s been a positive update in her case!
Earlier this year, a grassroots Amicus Brief, led by citizen advocate Terpsehore Maras and signed by over 3,000 Americans from all 50 states, was filed in federal court supporting Tina’s petition for habeas corpus — a request to be released from prison while her appeal is heard. You can read and download the Amicus here.
That filing, made in February 2025, is now being actively considered by the court after the State of Colorado formally objected to its admission. The brief argues that Tina was denied bail not because she posed any risk of flight or violence, but because of her speech — a punishment the Amici say violates her constitutional rights under the First, Eighth, Ninth, and Fourteenth Amendments.
Now the court must decide whether an American can be imprisoned for her words while awaiting justice.
As this case unfolds, please keep Tina in prayer — a prayer for freedom, for truth to prevail, and for courage for every citizen who stands for integrity.
