* Students across the state can apply to nearly 130 colleges and universities for free this October! You can find a complete list of participating schools on the New York State Application Waiver ([link removed]) webpage. Additional assistance with college applications and information on related events can be found on the Apply to SUNY ([link removed]) and CUNY Month ([link removed]) webpages.
* On Sunday, October 26th from 10 AM to 3 PM at Prospect Park Boathouse, Brooklyn FAM is hosting a free intergenerational celebration of Brooklyn’s African and Asian communities. Come for dance, music, art and more!

* Atlantic Hurricane Season is here until November 30th. Are you prepared?
If a hurricane hits, The City may order residents in certain zones to evacuate depending on the hurricane's track and projected storm surge. Knowing your hurricane evacuation zone in advance can prevent stress and evacuation delays if you are asked to evacuate because of an incoming hurricane or coastal storm. Visit nyc.gov/knowyourzone to know your zone & make a plan.
* The Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) will host its next public board meeting on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. via Webex and in-person. You can attend in person at 100 Church Street, 10th Floor, New York, NY 10007 or register to attend virtually here ([link removed]) .

In solidarity,

Council Member Shahana
