I joined The Lead to discuss the government shutdown — and make it clear
who’s responsible.

Because, despite what Republicans and some in the media want you to
believe, this shutdown was created by the GOP, period.

Republicans had all year long to extend ACA tax credits — and refused.
Now, thousands of Delawareans are furloughed, and thousands more are
receiving letters notifying them of skyrocketing premium costs.

So when Jake asked me why Democrats won’t just make a handshake deal to
pass the MAGA funding bill, and hope Republicans keep their word and fix
ACA subsidies before they expire — I didn’t mince words.

We cannot trust Republicans to end a crisis they started. This is a
shutdown they manufactured to raid Americans’ health care so they can fund
tax breaks for their billionaire donors.

Many seem to forget that Republicans have total control of D.C. right now
— if they actually cared about keeping the government open and protecting
access to care for millions of Americans, they would have done it by now.

But as long as Republicans control the House, they’ll keep manufacturing
chaos and gutting lifelines for working families to help the rich get even
richer.

I’m not backing down —
but to keep fighting back, go all in on flipping the House in 2026, and
hold Republicans accountable, I need your support.
