Dear John,

For ournext LPE meeting on Wednesday, October 22nd <[link removed]>, we are excited to welcome Krista Wyatt, the Director of TimeBanks.Org. She will introduce everyone to the concept of timebanking and its role in supporting and sustaining local communities across the world.

Timebanking changes lives. I (Marie) know this because timebanking changed my life in many fundamental ways. Fifteen years ago, I came across the concept of timebanking randomly in a web search, and went down a rabbit hole. I listened to stories of how it works, and the lives it changed. I could see its potential to bring together communities of all kinds, doing the work of serving and creating with each other as a means to elevate people in foundational ways. Eventually, I started a Timebank in my local town and ran it for many years. Through this, I saw first hand the important ways timebanking honors and includes everyone, and how the simple act of creating space for people to give their gifts to others brings out the best in us all.

Our guest, Krista Wyatt, has seen all of this too. She is involved in many different types of timebanks, and can speak to the wide variety of ways that community members can give and receive help with daily tasks. She can also speak to the way that timebanks rise to the occasion when an emergency strikes, like we have seen in the recent crises in LA and in North Carolina.

We hope you will join us for this engaging and informative conversation.

For those of your who joined our last LPE Meeting <[link removed]>, we were grateful to all those gathered to hear the stories of Local Peace Economy organizations and efforts all over the US. Participants on the call shared what inspires them during the metacrisis in which we find ourselves, and how direct action leads to connection and creativity in their local communities.

Want to take action this week? Pepperdine University just announced that Reverend Johnnie Moorewill be the new Vice Chancellor of its Washington, D.C. campus. As a university that upholds a mission of principled faith, the recent appointment of Rev. Moore clearly contradicts that. Rev. Moore was a key leading figure in the deadly Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, the privatized "death traps" orchestrated by American contractors. Tell Pepperdine University that by appointing someone who had a direct hand in the deaths of thousands of Palestinians in their simple missions to feed themselves and their families, they are upholding the values of genocide. Sign this pledge <[link removed]> and tell the University it must rescind their appointment!
