Dear Neighbor,
As your representative in Congress, I remain focused on delivering results for our community, including: addressing the rising cost of healthcare and pushing for our government to reopen and be accountable to those we serve. Whether it's through listening sessions, attending community events, or pursuing legislative action, I’m committed to fighting for your interests every step of the way. Ending the Government Shutdown: It’s Time to Put Americans first! The ongoing government shutdown, caused by repeated inaction in the Senate, is having serious consequences across the country. For example, America’s air travel system is being pushed to the brink!
✅ House Republicans already passed a clean funding bill.
It’s time for Senate Democrats to stop the political games, reopen the government, and put the American people first.
Promoting Peace: Last week marked a historic milestone and a significant step forward in the Middle East peace process. I commend President Donald J. Trump for his unwavering leadership. Click here to read more about my thoughts on this important topic.
Hearing Directly from You: A heartfelt thank you to the more than 9,000 constituents who joined my recent tele-townhall. We had a productive conversation about the rising cost of healthcare and the urgent need to reopen the government. I'll continue urging my Senate colleagues to pass the clean funding bill and end this shutdown without further delay.
Engaging with Local Leaders: I’ve spent the past week connecting with local leaders and organizations across the district. For example, it was great to speak with community leaders at this year’s United Way Appreciation breakfast about the agency’s vital work addressing unmet needs across our region.
I also enjoyed meeting with the New Port Richey Rotary to discuss the needs of residents and small businesses. This group of dedicated professionals continues to make a meaningful impact through its charitable efforts in and beyond the city.
I also toured several local businesses and community assets with the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce. The tour showcased the innovation and economic vitality that has been driving Citrus County forward.
Additionally, I was honored to take part in the White Cane Celebration hosted by the Pasco, Hernando, and Citrus County Lighthouse for the Blind. It was a powerful reminder of the daily challenges faced by individuals who are blind or visually impaired — and the importance of promoting accessibility and understanding.
Encouraging the Next Generation of Leaders: Last week, I had the privilege of speaking to young Americans at a Turning Point USA event in honor of Charlie Kirk’s birthday. It was inspiring to see so many students passionate about civic engagement and eager to make a positive impact on their communities.
Community Connection
I am fortunate to have a team of dedicated staff who regularly attend events throughout our community, especially when I am required to be in Washington, DC. Through their collective efforts, I am better able to stay connected to the issues that matter most to my constituents. As part of my commitment to developing a better understanding of the issues facing constituents in Citrus, Hernando and Pasco counties, members of my team attended several events last week. Here are a few highlights.
This month, my team had the privilege of attending the West Pasco Community Service Council's monthly meeting, where we gained valuable insight into the inspiring work being done by dedicated volunteers to uplift and serve others in our community.
My team also had a wonderful time at the annual "Boots and Bling" Gala—a spirited and heartfelt evening dedicated to supporting the well-being of seniors throughout our region. It was a joy to come together in celebration of such a meaningful cause.
Additionally, we participated in the North Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce meeting, where we engaged in thoughtful discussions about the evolving needs of small businesses and how we can collectively contribute to their growth and success.
Constituent Corner
My team recently received this message from a constituent after helping a local small business owner.
I wanted to reach out to tell you how much you and your office staff have helped us in getting our Sam’s registration back. We are so pleased, that you assigned us a case worker, Ms. Kristen Sellas. She made attempts to set deadlines and reach out to GSA Sam.gov and DLA cage code on our behalf. I think with your office, initiating a congressional investigation, and the assistance of the Army Small Business, DEVCOM small business, and DLA Aviation small business, GSA Sam.gov office was being pushed enough to get our registration renewed so we were able to receive the end of year contract awards and bill out for our current on-going projects. We were lucky that we have over $20M contracts and have a lot of horsepower. I am fearful for other small businesses that do not have those contracts backing them that if this happened to them, they would go out of business. I am not going to let this situation that we experienced die. I will tell others at every chance, what happened to us. As a business owner, I lost a month and a half of work running my company just to fight for our lives as a business, which turned out to be one government worker’s poor decision about my company. Because of this situation, it is now costing us a 3,400 percent increase to move my company from a great situation to satisfy the government that did not change their policies from last year. Thank you for your help in making this possible. I would love to meet you in person sometime as we do multiple Federal contract awards for our great country. Everyone that I tell in the community of how much you helped us, everyone agrees that you are a great representative and asset for our community. I have not met one person who does not support you and your mission. Thank you again.
This is just one example of the work we do each day. Constituent services are a critical element of our congressional office. The federal government is a massive operation, and my office is available if you ever need assistance in navigating the bureaucracy or cutting through red tape. Also, if you are planning a trip to Washington, DC please let us know 90 days in advance so we can help make the most of your visit. We are here to serve you! |
