I want to share something personal with you.

Since I launched my Democratic campaign to flip the Senate, I’ve received so much support from people like you, John. I am incredibly grateful.

But here’s the other side: 

Donald Trump and his MAGA Republicans think that people who look like me, or immigrant families like mine, don’t belong in the United States — let alone in the Senate.

These hateful attacks never stopped me before, and you better believe they won't stop me from fighting to preserve the American dream in the Senate. My family moved here from India when I was a baby in search of the American Dream. I grew up in Peoria, Illinois as a racial, religious, and ethnic minority immigrant kid with 29 letters in my name. 

My parents worked incredibly hard to give us a better life, and even though we had some tough times, this great country allowed us to live the American Dream.

Growing up, I never thought someone like me could run for office – let alone win.

But then, I got my start in Illinois politics working for a man named Barack Obama. Many people thought a candidate with a so-called funny name couldn’t win. We all know how that worked out. 

So no matter how many hateful attacks are thrown at me, I need you to know that nothing will deter me from fighting on your behalf in the Senate – and from standing up to bullies like Donald Trump.

John, Trump wants to DESTROY all that makes our country great – and all that makes stories like mine possible.
