We secured a major victory but are facing more threats to gun safety. Donate today to fuel our life-saving work.

John-

The good news: California just made history.

Thanks to the tireless work of Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers, survivors, and our Gun Sense Champions in Sacramento, Governor Gavin Newsom signed AB 112—a first-of-its-kind law to stop DIY machine guns.

This new law closes a deadly loophole that allowed gun makers to sell pistols that could easily be converted into machine guns using a $20 piece of plastic called a switch. For too long, the gun industry and lawmakers ignored this danger—but our grassroots movement continued to show up and fight until this bill was finally passed.

But we can't pause to celebrate. The gun lobby is already mobilizing their extremist allies in Congress to push a reckless Concealed Carry Mandate that would put our safety at risk nationwide.

This victory in California is proof that we can counter anything the gun lobby throws our way, when we work together. Now help us prepare for this looming threat and build the grassroots power we need to win the fights ahead—from stopping dangerous bills in Congress to advancing bold gun safety laws in every state. Now for the bad news: While California is leading the nation forward, extremists in Congress are trying to drag us backward.

When the government reopens, House Republicans are preparing to push the Concealed Carry Mandate.

This reckless, gun-lobby-backed bill would force each state to allow people from other states to carry hidden, loaded guns in public, including in states where they would not otherwise be allowed to carry. This mandate would gut our nation's gun laws and trample on states' rights.

That means someone from another state with a violent criminal record or no safety training could carry a concealed gun in your community, even if your state's laws wouldn't let them—putting families, law enforcement, and communities at risk.

John, this is why it's so important that we continue to build grassroots power to stop dangerous bills like this before they become law and mobilize our base to contact Congress to oppose reckless legislation like the Concealed Carry Mandate.

John, donate now to Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund today to help us win more victories like California's DIY machine gun ban across the nation, fight back against the gun lobby's dangerous agenda in Congress, mobilize our base of nearly 11 million supporters, and secure a future free of gun violence.
