Happy Sunday, True Texans!
I titled this email "Think Again." It seems like it fits all of the topics I cover below... who you do business with, candidates to support, current events, and more.
Obviously the biggest news is that early voting starts tomorrow! Make sure you're doing your research! You can start on our website. We have our recommendations for the 17 Constitutional Amendments, as well as for many local and special elections. Check it out, be prepared, and share it with others!
Wanna go a step further?(Hopefully, yes!) Contact a favorite candidate and volunteer to work the polls! It is crazy to me that folks arrive at the polls not knowing who to vote for, but they do! That last smiling face asking them to vote for our candidate right before they enter the building makes an impact more often than you'd think. Why not donate an hour of time and sign up for a shift? You'll feel great, and so will the candidate.
Texas GOP Whiffs It Again Y'all may or may not know that my husband is way more edgy than I am! If Fran and I are "good cop/bad cop", then Fred and I are "bad cop/really bad cop"! Last weekend many of us were appropriately disappointed in the State GOP for failing to properly discipline rogue State Reps. Why did that happened? The Trump team stepped in and manipulated our efforts, ticking off a lot of grassroots activists. Here's my husband's take on it.
Good News For Us... Not So Good For UNT! We've had tons of you contact UNT regarding death threats on a student. The outcry from the people has come from grassroots, politicians at all levels, community leaders, churches, and alumni. UNT has done nothing to answer our demands. Well, I'm actually glad, because now our great Attorney General is investigating them. How much ya wanna bet he finds a lot more corruption than just Mary-Catherine's situation? Thank you, Ken Paxton!
Patriots Supporting Patriots Our Patriot-Owned Businesses initiative brought in a few new businesses this week! Welcome to Brenham Bungalow and to Environmental Health Center! You can find these and many others on our website at truetexasproject.com/pob, where you'll also find information on how to sign up YOUR business. Win-Win!
Special Edition! I always thought South Africa was so far removed from the US - the chaos and backwardness seemed distant and "not my concern". Well, did you see the special episode of TTP@Home we released this week? I had to think again. The similarities are disturbing. You should check it out! Fran and I interviewed a man sounding the alarm... and giving us hope on how to deal with it.
Candidate Interviews Reminder: TTP interviews for the Primary happen the last week of October for all candidates in Tarrant County and for any candidates in Texas running for a district larger than a county. Email [email protected] to sign up.
For those outside Tarrant in districts countywide or smaller, you will interview with your local TTP satellite. See their contact information at the end of this email.
Rebuttal! Some of our candidate interviews are being recorded for our podcast. We've already released interviews with Goloby & Chambers for Governor, Toth for Congress, and Miller & Sheets for Ag Commissioner. On Nov 7 we'll release interviews with Middleton, Roy, and Reitz for Attorney General, and later we'll have interviews for US Senate and for TX Comptroller. Meanwhile, candidate Nate Sheets has offered a rebuttalto the interview with Sid Miller for Texas Ag Commissioner. We've shared it with you here. Who knows... maybe Sid will have a rebuttal to the rebuttal? If so, we'll keep you posted!
Scholarship Applications Now Being Accepted Every year True Texas Education, our c(3) organization, offers a scholarship to three high school students. They can be any year in any Texas high school, and they submit an essay. Winners receive monetary awards and join us at our annual Christmas party! Tell the students you know!
