I went to 13 public schools before I graduated from Highland High School
in Albuquerque. And I can tell you that when school feels relevant — when
kids have real options — it makes all the difference.
Right now, New Mexico ranks near the bottom in education — and every
family knows our kids deserve better. Across all 33 counties, I hear the
same things: students don’t feel prepared for the real world, and
employers can’t find enough skilled workers to fill good-paying jobs.
I want to tackle this:
Together — students, parents, teachers, businesses, and unions — let’s
move New Mexico’s schools and economy forward by better engaging our
children. But I need your help to make this a possibility. [ [link removed] ]Will you
chip in $5 to my campaign right now so we can build the
future every New Mexico student and family deserves?

Across our state, parents, teachers, and employers all want the same
thing: for our kids to have a real shot at success right here in New
Mexico. Here’s how we can make that happen:
* Let’s create career and trade pathways that start in middle school and
carry students through graduation into living-wage, high-demand
careers in New Mexico.
* Let’s make learning exciting again, so curiosity in our students can
soar: to keep kids engaged in reading and math, we can couple them
with hands-on courses that excite their imaginations and keep them
learning.
* Let’s give every high school student a launchpad — whether they’re
headed to college or a high-paying career. By expanding career pathway
programs, we can help students graduate with real-world skills,
credentials, and even hands-on working hours. Let’s make sure every
diploma opens doors to opportunity in New Mexico.
* Let’s seize the moment. Our state is on the verge of a boom in
renewable energy, film, aerospace, and high-speed internet. But for
every ten workers retiring, only one is ready to take their place.
Let’s invest in career pathways now — so students in every community
can step into these jobs, fuel our economy, and lead New Mexico into
the future.
The solution is clear: we must invest in career pathways now — so kids in
rural, Tribal, and urban communities can be part of New Mexico’s future.
New Mexico’s businesses and unions know what’s at stake — and they’re
ready to be part of the solution. Pre-apprenticeship programs are already
training electricians, plumbers, lineworkers, film crews, and more —
connecting students to safe, high-paying, in-demand careers.
When we all work together, we don’t just build a stronger workforce — we
build a brighter future for our kids.
The payoff? A new generation of New Mexicans ready to fill good-paying
jobs, break cycles of poverty, and help our state lead the way in
innovation and opportunity. As your next governor, I’m ready to work side
by side with teachers, families, unions, businesses, and education
professionals to make this a cornerstone of how we improve education and
strengthen our economy.

my campaign today to help us build this future for New Mexico’s kids and
communities?

P.S. I recently shared my education plan in an op-ed for the Albuquerque
Journal — focused on preparing New Mexico students for life beyond the
classroom, starting in middle school.
