This may be the most important rescue story of all time for cats in labs. Read it — or unsubscribe.

In my 20-year career of exposing and closing animal labs, I’ve never seen anything quite like Petite’s story.

Taxpayer, trust me: you’ll see why when you read on.

Global Cat Day is over. But you can still do your part for cats in labs by signing our new petition.

Sincerely,

Justin Goodman

Taxpayer, the day you and I shut down her lab changed everything

When I first met Petite — almost small enough to curl in the palm of my hand — I knew I had to bring her home.

But I didn’t know her rescue would change the course of history.

This is Petite on her first day of freedom — the ride home after WCW shut down her lab.

Petite is the little lab cat who left a big legacy. Before she had a name, she had a number: #15KEY5.

She was born in Waverly, NY, and sold by Liberty Research (now Marshall BioResources) for $695 to the U.S. government’s largest cat lab.

At just 4.9 pounds, she was small enough to earn the name “Lil Petite.”

The USDA’s “Kitten Slaughterhouse” — just 30 minutes from the White House — bred, killed, and burned 10-week-old kittens on your dime:

  • Force-fed dog and cat meat from Chinese wet markets.
  • 6,635 slaughtered and incinerated.
  • Your tax bill? $22.5 million.

Cat experimentation raged inside the U.S. government.

But for 40 years, no animal rights group shut down a single federal cat laboratory.

The establishment tried — and failed. They sabotaged labs, threw red paint — but the killing never stopped.

Until you and White Coat Waste stepped in. We:

  • Investigated Petite’s lab.
  • Exposed it to CNN, The Washington Post, NBC, and more.
  • Built a bipartisan coalition in Congress.

And shut it down forever!

Taxpayer, Petite’s victory didn’t just save one cat — it sparked a revolution.

Petite became the heartbeat of WCW’s winning streak for cats:

  • Closed all Veterans Affairs cat labs in Los Angeles (’21), Cleveland (’21), Louisville (’22), and the “Stokes 7” (’24).
  • Banned cat testing by the U.S. Navy (’25).
  • Forced federal agencies to adopt the first-ever retirement policies — giving other rescued cats (and dogs) a second chance at the NIH, Pentagon, VA, and FDA.

In just five years, you and I wiped out every known lab causing pain and distress to cats inside the U.S. government.

She was the turning point. Petite shattered the culture of losing and ended an era of federal feline abuse.

But her story didn’t stop there.

Petite’s lab didn’t just kill kittens — it imported dog and cat meat from China for taxpayer-funded cannibalism experiments.

After following that foreign money trail, our investigators asked: What else is our government funding in China?

One year after closing her lab, we found the answer — and it was even bigger.

White Coat Waste uncovered how NIH funded the Wuhan lab and exposed how U.S. taxpayers paid for the pandemic.

This is how the world first learned that Dr. Fauci’s wasteful spending on animal tests likely caused a lab leak and COVID.

Petite passed away last year — but her final years were filled with love and comfort.

From lab cat to “lap cat,” I gave Petite a real home... complete with Cat TV and KitNipBoxes.

Taxpayer, I’m forever grateful for your help saving her.

Because of you, her story didn’t end there — the movement she inspired still lives on.

From a number to a name.
From a lab cage to a lap cat.
From lab cat to lab leak…

She’ll always be the little lab cat who left a big legacy — thanks to you.

Help us honor Petite’s legacy:

Taxpayers shouldn't be forced to pay $20 billion+ for wasteful government animal experiments.
