I woke up this morning to the same infuriating news: the government shutdown continues.

The lengthy shutdown has been a financial punch to the gut for honest, hardworking people right here in South Dakota.

Whether you're a federal worker living without a paycheck, a veteran who relies on timely services, or a family worried about the cost of keeping your health care coverage, this chaos is directly threatening your security. The parties are so obsessed with partisan games that they are letting everyday folks lose their earned paychecks and even their essential healthcare benefits just to score political points.

I wore the uniform for 26 years. I swore an oath to service and integrity. What's happening in Congress right now is a total failure of duty. Frankly, the parties need to get their sh*t together and stop playing games with people's lives.

These politicians are holding South Dakota families hostage because career DC-insiders like Mike Rounds value party line loyalty over common-sense governing.

I’m running as an Independent because I refuse to be a part of that broken system. We need a Senator who is disciplined enough to demand results and strong enough to tell both sides: End the chaos, restore competency, and get people back to work.
