This is cruel, John.

Last week, the Trump administration announced that furloughed federal workers will not be guaranteed back pay. Worse? Trump himself told reporters those workers “don’t deserve back pay.”

These are the very people who kept our government afloat during crises — airport security agents, food inspectors, Social Security staff, park rangers, and so many others who showed up while paychecks were frozen. And now Trump’s saying they’re not worth it.

It’s outrageous. It’s cruel. And it’s deliberate.

This is all part of a broader strategy: use fear, economic pressure, and institutional chaos to consolidate power, while gutting trust in public service while he’s at it.

Democrats in office are fighting back. We’re supporting legal efforts to enforce existing worker protections, hold this administration accountable, and stop this precedent from taking root.
