From Ribbon Cutting to First Meals: Salisbury Pantry Brings Hope to North Carolina’s Military Community

Good news travels fast — and in Salisbury, North Carolina, it’s spreading with smiles and full grocery bags. Soldiers’ Angels is proud to announce the opening of a brand-new food pantry serving Salisbury Service Members, Veterans, and their families!

This new location will host weekly events, giving Military-connected individuals access to essential groceries like pantry staples, protein, fresh produce, and more. It’s one more way Soldiers’ Angels is working to ensure that no hero goes hungry — and that our nation’s Service Members and Veterans always feel supported by the community they serve or have served to protect.

The excitement was in full swing during the official ribbon-cutting and grand opening celebration. Local leaders, partners, and supporters came together to mark this milestone, including Mayor Tamara Sheffield, Senator Carl Ford, Representative Harry Warren, the Rowan County Chamber of Commerce, and more.

A very special thank-you goes to the Charlotte Hornets Foundation for their incredible $100,000 donation that helped make this site possible. Their support has truly jump-started this effort to bring nourishment and hope to North Carolina Service Members and Veterans.

With the shelves stocked and hearts full, the Soldiers’ Angels Salisbury Food Pantry is now open and ready to serve.

Jacksonville Veterans Luncheon Brings Connection and Care

Soldiers’ Angels volunteers in Florida had a great time serving Veterans at the Jacksonville Five Star Veteran Transition Center. The meaningful luncheon offered not only a warm meal, but also a chance for Veterans to connect with others who share similar experiences and face similar challenges. Events like this nourish both body and spirit, bringing Veterans together through camaraderie and connection.

Kids Helping Heroes: Turning Halloween Candy into Care

After the costumes are packed away and candy buckets start to overflow, many families find themselves wondering what to do with all that Halloween candy. That’s where Soldiers' Angels Treats for Troops comes in — turning leftover sweets into meaningful care for our heroes.

Through this nationwide program, local businesses, schools, churches, and even dental offices register as candy collection sites. Families drop off their extra candy, knowing it will be shared with Service Members and Veterans at home and abroad. Some candy is delivered to VA hospitals or military units, while other donations are sent overseas — bringing a little taste of home to deployed troops.

For kids, this simple act of giving is a lesson in kindness and gratitude. Each time they add candy to a donation box, they’re helping send comfort and connection to those who serve.
