Republicans have a magical way of thinking about the economy.

They tell us that if we line the pockets of billionaires and give huge handouts to corporations, eventually their wealth will trickle down to the working class.

But the divide between the mega-rich and the working class under their “trickle down” policies continues to turn into a chasm.

Billionaires have added $33 trillion to their net worth in just the last ten years. The top 1% has accumulated a third of all the wealth in America. Folks are working longer hours for lower wages at companies where the CEOs and investors are making millions. The cost of everything from rent to groceries is skyrocketing.

Meanwhile, Republicans in Congress do everything they can to kick Americans off their health insurance, defund food assistance, and block minimum wage increases.

The truth is, we already know how to fix the massive income inequality we see today.

We need the mega-rich to finally pay their fair share in taxes. We need to invest in the universal programs that give folks the economic security they deserve. We need to empower unions to protect workers and ensure that they share in the wealth they create on the job.

But as we have seen, there are powerful special interests who stand in the way of this working class agenda. Millions and millions are spent to defeat progressive leaders like Ilhan Omar and protect the pro-billionaire status quo.

That’s why it’s so important that regular folks chip in to campaigns like ours – whether it’s $5 or $50 – and help us take on the corporate Super PACs and billionaire donors who stand in the way of real progress.

If you’re ready to tackle the oligarchy and end the failed era of “trickle down economics” once and for all, chip in to Ilhan Omar’s campaign. Ilhan goes to work every day in Washington on behalf of the working class, not the billionaire class.
