Today millions of Americans will take to the streets in thousands of cities and towns across the country with one simple message: “No Kings.”

The fundamental promise of the United States since our founding has been freedom from kings, tyrants, and dictators who rule with absolute power.

But now, Donald Trump has violated that sacred promise more than any leader in our 250 year history. His authoritarian agenda could not be more clear.

He has violated the Constitution over and over again, whether by slashing congressionally approved funding or ignoring court orders that limit his executive actions.

He has cracked down on the right to free speech by arresting and even deporting people for their political opinions, and by going after the independence of the media with the full force of the federal government.

He has used ICE as a secret police force, allowing them to deny due process, racially profile, use excessive force, and tear apart families who have been part of the American fabric for decades.

And now, he is sending the military and National Guard into our great American cities to create authoritarian police states, stoke chaos, and carry out revenge on his political rivals.

I stand side by side with everyone who protests today because I will not allow our democracy to be destroyed by a lying, incompetent, con-man, wannabee-dictator like Donald Trump.

No Kings is exactly the kind of mass mobilization and grassroots action it will take to win a pro-democracy majority and defeat the far-right, who are tearing down the building blocks of our very nation. It’s our historic responsibility to build this movement and win at the ballot box.

So whether you’re going out to march today or cheering along at home, please consider taking the next step in the fight against authoritarianism and make a contribution to my campaign.
