I miss her every single day, John.

My beloved sister, Barbara, was a force. She was a beauty queen. She was a mother, a sister, a pilot, an entertainer, and an all-around adventurous person. People never forgot her once they met her.

My sister, Barbara.

But in August 1992, Barbara’s life was stolen, and now I’m only left with memories of her.

Like far too many others in America, Barbara was shot and killed by her estranged husband. She had a restraining order against him. He’d become more and more aggressive and increasingly unstable. She told her friends she was worried about his guns — and clearly she had every reason to be.

Friend, I know I can’t bring my sister back. But I can advocate for solutions to prevent similar tragedies — and that’s why I’m reaching out to you today. With the Trump administration advancing a deadly measure to arm domestic abusers, we don’t have much time to act.

In just two days, the Trump administration will close the deadline for a measure that could allow convicted domestic abusers to regain the right to own a firearm. Gun traffickers and people with histories of violent hate crimes could also get their gun rights restored, putting everyone — especially victims of domestic violence — at greater risk of gun violence.

This move is sickening, especially during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Every 16 hours, a woman is shot and killed by a husband or boyfriend, and 10 million people in this country experience domestic violence each year. And a woman is five times more likely to be murdered when her abuser has a firearm.

Lives are on the line, friend — and that’s why I need your help fighting back BEFORE the deadline closes at midnight on Monday. The NRA and gun industry are flooding the Department of Justice with comments in support of this dangerous new measure, so please take action NOW before it’s too late. [[link removed]?]

There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of Barbara and who she would have become.

But in memory of my sister and the many thousands of Americans who have been killed by domestic violence and gun violence, I demand action. I honor the lives lost with action. And I hope you’ll join me, John. [[link removed]?]

Say NO to Loaded, Hidden Firearms Everywhere!

[link removed] [[link removed]]

Even though the federal government is closed, NRA-backed lawmakers are still building support for a deadly bill that would allow anyone, anywhere to carry a hidden, loaded gun.

This dangerous legislation would MANDATE states to allow those who are permitted to concealed carry in their home state to do so in every other state — regardless of state or local law. That would mean that when you’re dropping your kid off at school, or walking in the park, or taking the bus to work, anyone could be carrying a concealed, loaded firearm. This bill would take us one step closer to the Trump administration’s dystopian “guns everywhere” vision.

And the consequences of this will be deadly. Concealed carry is proven to increase gun violence — in some cases by as much as 15%.

That’s why we need your help right now to stop this bill in its tracks. The NRA is doing everything in its power to advance this legislation , so please make your voice heard today and tell Congress to oppose this concealed carry mandate! [[link removed]]

HISTORIC Victory in California!

[link removed] [[link removed]]

Exciting news: California Gov. Gavin Newsom recently signed a Brady-sponsored bill, SB 704, into law that will limit 3D-printed ghost guns — the first law of its kind in the nation!

SB 704 will require background checks on firearm barrels — essential components needed to complete unserialized, untraceable 3D-printed ghost guns. This is a MAJOR step forward in helping end the proliferation of these deadly firearms.

When 3D printing a gun, the only part that cannot be reliably printed is the barrel, leading most people to purchase an industrially manufactured one. Without this new law, these barrels have been entirely unregulated and could be bought online or in-store without a background check. This made it far too easy for prohibited gun purchasers to acquire the final, and most essential, component needed to complete a 3D-printed gun.

Thanks to Brady California and our grassroots advocates, California now has a new law on the books to prevent gun violence BEFORE it happens. This is an enormous step towards a future free from gun violence and acts as a national model for other states to follow.

We couldn’t have achieved this without the leadership of Senator Jesse Arreguín and Assemblymember Catherine Stefani and the voices of thousands of Brady California activists calling and emailing their lawmakers to demand its passage!

Taking Action to End Gun Violence with Coach Steve Kerr

Just last week, we hosted an unforgettable evening at the Chase Center in San Francisco to support Brady’s mission to free America from gun violence. Our event featured inspiring conversations with big advocates for change — including Golden State Warriors Coach and gun violence survivor Steve Kerr and DoorDash CEO Tony Xu, as well as special guests artist E-40 and political analyst and media personality Van Jones.

We also enjoyed spoken word by Brady Combating Crime Guns Senior Manager Marion Wilson and heard from Brady President Kris Brown, as well as other speakers who discussed Brady’s approach to change the laws, industry, and culture of guns in America.
