The Supreme Court just announced its decision on the Affordable Care Act’s contraceptive coverage guarantee — a decision that is devastating for women’s health care in America.

The Court sided with the Trump administration, ruling that your employer or your university can take away your birth control coverage, just because they have personal objections.

Birth control coverage under the Affordable Care Act has benefitted over 62 million people. The people who have benefited most from guaranteed birth control coverage are people of color and young people – especially here in Mississippi, a state with some of the worst anti-women’s health laws in the nation.

Let’s be clear, the Supreme Court’s decision isn’t accidental. It’s yet another part of a larger effort by the Trump administration and far-right Republicans to undermine women’s health care, dismantle the Affordable Care Act, and impose their backwards agenda on everyone else.

With this new ruling, women’s health care in Mississippi is in danger like never before. It has never been more urgent to elect Democrats to the U.S. Senate who will defend women’s health care and defend the Affordable Care Act — and Mike Espy is committed to that.
