General Newsletter From the Office of Senator Andy Kim

Happy Friday, New Jersey,

This week, Senator Kim was in New Jersey and at the Capitol, talking with people back home who are being impacted by the government shutdown, and fighting to raise their voices in Washington and bring Congressional Republicans back to the negotiating table to save healthcare for millions of Americans.

Share Your Story:

Earlier this week, we sent out a call for stories because the reality is, people are getting notices in the mail right now about how their healthcare premiums are going to skyrocket, and families are having to make the hard decisions about whether or not they can afford to keep their care.

We’ve heard directly from New Jerseyans who are concerned about this issue. If you are receiving these notices in the mail, or if you would be impacted by rising healthcare costs and the end of the ACA premium tax credits, we want to hear from you.

Please send your story to [email protected] and help us shine a light on how this healthcare crisis.

Working for New Jersey:

TALKING WITH YOU IN NJ DINERS ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN:

Conversations about the government shutdown are happening all over the country, including in Jersey diners. That’s why Senator Kim has traveled up to New Jersey to speak with people across the state who are impacted by the shutdown.

We’re bringing your stories back to the Capitol as we fight to re-open the government while addressing the healthcare crisis millions of Americans and New Jerseyans are facing.

Diner Talk: Healthcare is on the line.
In New Jersey, the average cost for healthcare through the ACA will double if we don’t act now. In Egg Harbor City, Senator Kim sat down with Cindy, Theresa, and Shannon to talk about healthcare. What he heard is, New Jersey is ready to take a stand because people's lives are on the line.

FIGHTING BACK AGAINST TRUMP’S TERMINATION OF GATEWAY TUNNEL PROJECT FUNDS:

On Wednesday of this week, President Trump announced that he was terminating funds for the critical Gateway Tunnel Project that impacts millions of New Jerseyans, as well as our entire nation’s economy, all in the name of political retribution.

An absolutely reckless decision that shows the Trump Administration doesn’t just break promises; they throw our lives into chaos and steal our money.

New Jersey knows mob bosses, and Trump is a mob boss through and through.

Diner Talk: Workers impacted by the cancellation of Gateway funds.

Earlier this week, in East Newark, NJ, Senator Kim joined union workers that would be impacted by the cancellation of Gateway funds. Since Trump’s termination of these funds, lifting up these voices is even more critical. This is going to hurt so many families in New Jersey; it’s important to hear directly from the people impacted.

Working for you at the Capitol:

STANDING UP FOR FEDERAL WORKERS:

In this government shutdown, federal workers are missing their paychecks because Trump and Speaker Johnson decided they’d rather plunge our government into a shutdown than address the healthcare crisis we all face.

Federal workers are still showing up, and we owe them better than they’re being treated right now.

CALLING OUT THE CORRUPTION IN THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION:

Why is healthcare so expensive? Because of the blatant corruption from the Trump Administration. It’s clear their priorities lie with profiting off Americans’ pain in support of their own interests and the interests of their billionaire buddies.

Senator Kim broke down 3 examples of what the Trump Administration is spending your taxpayer dollars on, instead of working to lower healthcare costs.
