Things are tough right now—especially for people in Texas and across the country who are struggling with the many challenges brought by the government shutdown. People are worried about access to and the cost of healthcare, as well as the cost of just about everything else.
It is in moments like these that we must remember that we have the power to change things—and that each of us can do something to make that change.
One of those things is vote—and get other people to vote—for people and policies that will help, not hurt. That means working for candidates and sharing information with other voters about who you are supporting and why that matters. This campaign, this team effort, is a reminder that we can make that change.
And, with our work together in 2018, we made history. I was sworn in to the 116th Congress in January 2019 with some incredible people. People who, like me, were first time candidates, putting our names on the ballot because we knew that we deserved better from our government, and that we could help make it happen.
Now, two of my friends from the Class of 2018, Abigail Spanberger and Mikie Sherrill, are running for governor in critical elections in just a few weeks. These elections are absolutely vital—sending a message and sending two smart, dedicated, patriotic women to the governor’s offices in Virginia and New Jersey.
I have known and worked with Abigail and Mikie for years, and I know how lucky their states and the country will be to have them as governors. So, I hope you will join me in helping support them by participating in our TeamLizzie phonebanks for their campaigns.

- Abigail Spanberger — Tuesday, October 22 @ 5 P.M. CT
(Abigail is the only Democrat in the country who can flip a governor’s seat blue this year.)
- Mikie Sherrill — Week of October 27
(Polls show this race is neck-and-neck, and we can help push Mikie across the finish line.)
Electing strong Democratic governors is one of the most powerful ways we can help stop President Trump and his administration’s authoritarian takeover of our government. With just 18 days until Election Day—and many people already voting early—we’re in a critical window.
And don’t forget: There are also important elections happening right here in Texas. Every single person in Texas will be asked to vote on amendments to the Texas Constitution. And voters all over the state will have other important races on the ballot.
Make your plan to vote:
- Early In-Person Voting in Texas Begins: Monday, October 20
- Last Day to Apply for a Mail Ballot in Texas: Friday, October 24 (must be received, not postmarked)
- Last Day of Early Voting in Texas: Friday, October 31

Can’t volunteer right now? There are other ways to contribute:
- Forward this email to friends who might be able to volunteer—these phonebanks are virtual and can be done from anywhere
- Make a financial contribution to our campaign—it is an investment in organizing in 2025 and winning in 2026, in Texas and across the country.
Let’s make these last 18 days count.
Together we can do anything,
