This week, I joined Washington Watch with Tony Perkins to talk about two big things: President Trump’s leadership on the world stage and the Schumer Shutdown that’s brought Washington to a halt. President Trump spent nearly two hours on the phone with Vladimir Putin this week and the two are expected to meet soon in Budapest to work toward ending the Russia–Ukraine war. Within the last 10 months, President Trump has been able to secure peace deals for:
- Azerbaijan and Armenia
- Cambodia and Thailand
- Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo
- India and Pakistan
- Israel and Iran
- Egypt and Ethiopia
Look at that record! President Trump is doing great things around the world and people are paying attention. This isn’t the “Auto-Pen Administration” anymore. This is what American leadership looks like. As for the shutdown, here’s the truth. Democrats have voted for this same level of funding before, but now their Trump Derangement Syndrome is in full swing. Just this week, we saw Democrats struggle to even say “Thank you, Trump” while applauding the release of Israeli hostages. It’s clear. They’d rather see people suffer than admit he’s getting results.
Right now, Congress has a rare moment in time to finally act on decades of talk about waste, fraud, and abuse in Washington. But instead of joining us to fix it, Democrats are choosing politics over progress.
That’s what the Left can’t stand: RESULTS.

The Port of Galveston has a remarkable story. Established on October 17, 1825, by the Congress of Mexico, it quickly became a key hub for trade and defense. During the fight for Texas independence, it served as the home of the Texas Navy, where brave men risked everything for freedom. That same courage and determination still define Galveston today. In 1940, the people of Galveston made history once again when they came together to purchase their port, securing local control and ensuring it would remain an engine of growth for future generations. From a critical shipping center to one of the busiest cruise ports in the nation, the Port of Galveston has continued to evolve and expand. 200 years is no small achievement. The Port of Galveston has endured storms, wars, and economic changes and through it all, it has remained a symbol of Texas perseverance and prosperity. As we celebrate this bicentennial, we’re reminded that the story of Galveston is the story of Texas itself: strong, resilient, and always moving forward. Here’s to the next 200 years of growth and success for the Port of Galveston!

This week, our great President Donald J. Trump delivered a historic moment the world will never forget: the safe release of the living Israeli hostages held by Hamas.
For 738 days, these twenty hostages were trapped underground by a group of cowards and terrorists. Hamas forced them to dig their own graves, stripped them of their dignity, and used them as pawns in their campaign of terror. Thanks to President Trump, these hostages have now been reunited with their families and sent HOME: - Gali Berman & Ziv Berman
- Omri Miran
- Matan Angrest
- Eitan Mor
- Alon Ohel
- Guy Gilboa-Dalal
- Elkana Bohbot
- Rom Braslavski
- Nimrod Cohen
- Ariel Cunio
- David Cunio
- Evyatar David
- Maksym Harkin
- Eitan Horn
- Segev Kalfon
- Bar Kupershtein
- Yosef-Chaim Ohana
- Avinatan Or
- Matan Zangauker
Make no mistake, this isn’t just the end of a centuries-old war. It is hopefully the start of a lasting peace. To accomplish this long-term, Hamas MUST do what they agreed to do, and this begins with sending home the bodies of the murdered Israeli hostages. Hamas must also stop killing people in Gaza. Phase Two of President Trump’s plan calls to disarm Hamas and end their grip on Gaza once and for all. Hamas will be held accountable to their commitments. President Trump must continue to stand strong! America and the world are counting on him.

Today marks Day 17 of the ongoing Schumer Shutdown.
Back in September, House Republicans—and one Democrat—passed a clean funding bill to keep the government open through November 21st. We did our job to keep America running.
Over in the Senate, the situation is different. Even though Republicans hold a majority, they need 60 votes to overcome a filibuster. Right now, there are only 53 Republicans in the Senate. The most recent vote to reopen the government failed 51 to 45, short of the required 60 vote threshold.
So why are Senate Democrats refusing to open the government? They’re pushing for $1.5 trillion in spending, all of it tied to healthcare benefits for illegal aliens that were removed in July through the Working Families Tax Cut Plan, also known as the One Big Beautiful Bill. Ultimately, this is the same funding package they supported back in March.
For the last 17 days, American people have paid the price. Small businesses are waiting on payments, federal workers are sidelined, and agencies that provide vital services are forced to scale back. This is now the second-longest shutdown since I’ve been in Congress.
During this time between September 30th and November 21st, Congress was supposed to finish the rest of our funding bills. In fact, all 12 appropriations bills made it out of the House Appropriations Committee. We even sent several of them to the Senate before this mess started. Bills sent to the Senate include: - Energy & Water, saves $800 million from FY25
- Defense, level to FY25
- Military Construction–VA, 3% funding increase from FY25 to support our veterans
Within the Energy & Water Appropriations bill, I fought to secure $9 million for the Sabine-Neches Waterway Improvement Project and $5 million to keep the Coastal Spine (Bolivar Roads Gate System) moving forward. But until the Senate Democrats do their jobs and reopen the government to get back to work on these bills, those projects are stuck in park.
I’ll keep fighting to get this government reopened the right way, not by caving to wasteful spending, but by standing firm for taxpayers, families, and small businesses who expect better. The American people deserve a government that works for them, not against them. And I won’t stop until that’s exactly what they get.

Oil prices have hit their lowest point since early 2021, and the average price for regular unleaded gas is now around $3.05 a gallon, with many states, including Texas, already below $3. President Trump promised to lower fuel costs, and Americans are finally seeing relief at the pump.

Have you noticed gas prices drop since January 2025?

On October 14, 2025, President Trump posthumously awarded Charlie Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest honor an American civilian can receive.
Charlie would’ve turned 32 years old this week. He should still be here: still leading the “American Comeback Tour”, still speaking the truth, still standing up for GOD, FAMILY, and AMERICA.
Instead, his incredible wife, Mrs. Erika Kirk, stood tall to accept the medal in his honor. It was a moment that spoke louder than words. It was a tribute to a man whose faith never wavered and whose mission lives on through Turning Point USA.
Charlie gave everything he had to strengthen the next generation’s love for this country and their walk with Christ. He lit a fire that can’t be put out.
May GOD bless the Kirk family and may Charlie’s legacy remind us all that one life, lived boldly for truth, can still change a nation.

It’s been another full week across the Gulf Coast!
I had the honor of giving the keynote address at the Texas Association of Licensed Investigators Conference, where professionals from across Texas and the country came together to share best practices, review real cases, and discuss homeland security issues that affect both civil and criminal investigations. I also joined the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce for their Legislative Luncheon to talk about what’s happening in Washington and how it impacts our local businesses, jobs, and ports. At the Galveston Republican Women’s Monthly Luncheon, I had the chance to visit with local leaders about energy, border security, and the importance of standing strong for Texas values.
Yesterday, I joined local officials for a press conference highlighting a proposed new Juneteenth Museum in Galveston, honoring the birthplace of freedom and the legacy that continues to inspire our nation!
