Fight for $15
**************************
John –
Today, I'm proud to announce The Strike for Black Lives on Monday, July 20 and ask you to join us. [[link removed]]
On July 20, thousands of us will stand up, go on strike, walk off the job, and raise our voices to demand racial and economic justice at work. This isn't a choice – it's a mandate. We MUST stay loud.
We must stay loud because even after the disgusting murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Tony McDade, even after so many Black and Brown "essential workers" have been sent to the frontlines of the pandemic without enough protection or pay, even after continued, repeated, and worsening attacks on people of color, we still aren't being seen and heard.
We need BIG change. If there's one thing I know, it's that our movement can deliver that. John, I'm asking you to join me.

My voice matters and so does yours – I'm a living testimony to that.
I worked hard for 40 hours a week at Jimmy Johns in St. Louis making just above minimum wage and trying to save money to help my mom, but I could barely get by.
It wasn't until I joined the Fight for $15 in 2013 that my voice grew stronger. I organized with my co-workers and we all went out on strike screaming at the top of our lungs "No justice, no peace! Show me $15!"
It's turned me and other workers into leaders, organizing at work and in our communities. And then Mike Brown was murdered in Ferguson, Missouri. It hit me hard.
I could have been Mike Brown. My brother could have been Mike Brown.
I joined those protests, knowing that what I learned as part of the Fight for $15 could help. That when we step up and speak up, things will change.
Now, just a few years later, I'm a state representative for Missouri's 78th district. I get to be a voice for so many people in my community that have been voiceless in the legislature. We've made progress, but it's not enough.
The protests around the country over the past month are exactly what we need to wake this country up – but we can't stop. We must stay loud.
We must stay loud until we have justice for George Floyd and so many others. We must stay loud until we can make a living wage to support our families. And we must stay loud until everyone has the right to join a union to have a say in our future.
Join me on Monday, July 20 to demand racial and economic justice. [[link removed]]
