JOHN —

Yesterday, the commander of U.S. Southern Command resigned.

No one knows why, exactly, this commander resigned. But Combatant Commanders do not usually resign in the middle of their post — and especially in the middle of ongoing operations. It is a highly abnormal occurrence.

So, after watching the finest Military in the world be degraded, insulted, and abused for the last ten months, and after unprecedented attacks on the Constitution that he swore an oath to support and defend, possibly even after receiving illegal orders… he’d had enough.

Whatever the reason, a man who served for 37 years felt he had no place in the military he gave his life to. It’s another sign of how absolutely shameful and horrific Donald Trump’s so-called leadership is for our country. It makes us sick.

Still, there is a reason to hope. We’re hopeful because there are people in this country, like him, willing to do the right thing — even at the cost of everything they’ve worked towards for their entire lives. America is still here, and you can still be proud of that — even after everything Trump’s done.

Pride alone is not enough, though. To make it through this terrible moment, we have to put the right leaders in the right places. That is the entire mission of VoteVets — to get Veterans elected when no one else could win.

That mission is more important than ever, and we’re depending on your support to hit our goals and keep the work going.

So, if you’re sick and tired of this, please:

We are humbly asking you to make a donation of $5, or whatever you can afford. It would mean a lot to have you with us.
