State Police Posts to Participate in Drug Take Back Day on October 25

*LANSING, MICH. *The Michigan State Police (MSP) is once again taking part in a national initiative that encourages residents to safely dispose of expired and unused prescription pills. All of MSP’s 31 posts will be open on Saturday, October 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to accept unwanted medications as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

“Proper disposal of unused or expired prescription medication helps prevent misuse, protects the environment and keeps our communities safe,” said Col. James F. Grady II, director of the MSP. “Taking a few minutes to clear out your medicine cabinet and properly dispose of expired and unused pills can make a real difference in preventing prescription drug abuse.”

All collected pills will be destroyed; no questions asked. Liquids, inhalers, patches and syringes will not be accepted. To find a collection site near you, visit Michigan.gov/MSPPosts. [ [link removed] ]

Anyone unable to participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day can anonymously surrender prescription drugs at any MSP post, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding holidays.
