John, a ceasefire has been declared in Gaza. We recognize the relief this moment brings, even if brief, for Palestinian families who have endured years of genocide, ethnic cleansing, mass displacement, and forced starvation.
Angela wanted to share a message from Emad, a Palestinian man in Mississippi, who asked her to emphasize that while tens of thousands of Palestinians are returning to Gaza ruins right now, our organizing and advocacy for Palestinian liberation cannot stop.
The movement for Palestinian liberation is growing stronger every day and we can’t let up now.
We must continue demanding a permanent ceasefire, an end to the Israeli blockades, occupation & apartheid, the release of all illegally detained Palestinians, an end to all US funding to the Israeli government and military, and demand that Palestinians be in the driver’s seat for their own self-determination — not Trump, Netanyahu, or any one else.
We refuse to let up on pressure for Israeli and US governments that have consistently violated peace agreements for decades, including now.
Our guiding principles come from Angela’s ancestry. Angela’s roots are deeply embedded in the Purépecha women known for their land too, and the Chicano movement here in Los Angeles, born from resisting war.
John, in Los Angeles we will not compromise on human rights. We will not stop organizing and advocating for Palestinian liberation and self-determination until the decades-long occupation and apartheid come to an end. Period. 🍉
