Let me be clear: when working people stand up for their rights, I stand
with them — every single time.
Right now, the ironworkers at Greco Steel are on strike not for luxury or
special treatment, but for something basic — safety, respect, and a real
voice on the job. They organized after a tragic loss and repeated safety
problems. They voted for a union fair and square. And instead of honoring
that decision, the company has stalled and shut them out.
This week, those workers did something simple — they tried to hand-deliver
a letter asking for a meeting. They didn’t show up with hostility. They
showed up with hope. And Greco Steel wouldn’t even open the door.
If you can accept a worker’s labor, you can accept their letter.
No one in Western Pennsylvania should be ignored when they speak up for
their lives and livelihoods. These are our neighbors. Our family members.
Our friends. When they say, “We just want to be heard,” the response
should be, “Let’s talk,” not “Go away.”
I’m standing with these ironworkers until they get the respect they
deserve and I’m asking you to stand with them too.
