Hey there John, it's Angel.
Across the country, working people are standing up for our communities and are being met with violence. ICE and the military march on our cities as if they are warzones, raiding our neighborhoods, targeting our families, and brutalizing people for daring to resist through peaceful protest.
Students are on the frontlines more than ever. Trump is demanding that schools let him dictate what they teach, what kind of protest they allow, and who is safe on campus.
It’s clear that they are afraid of the student power emerging on our campuses and they’ll do whatever they can to break us, and silence us. That includes buying out our academic institutions to do their dirty work for them. We refuse to let that happen.
That’s why, leading student organizations are coming together to launch Students Rise Up today. We’re building up to a massive mobilization on May 1st, 2026 when students and workers will disrupt business as usual and force our schools and our political system to finally work for us.
Our pressure is turning the tide. In the last week, students and workers forced MIT, Brown University, University of Pennsylvania, and University of Southern California to reject Trump’s latest demands. Trump wanted to remake those schools, forcing them to teach conservative viewpoints, abolish DEI in both hiring and admissions, and crack down on free speech.
If we find the courage and come together we can fight back against Trump’s attacks on our communities. We can build a movement that can transform our education system once and for all.
We’ll ground ourselves in the current moment, build relationships with organizers across the country, and set the foundation to disrupt and resist: starting on November 7th. By joining this mass call, you are taking the first step toward building resistance and seeding the power we need to force change.
Everyone who joins will get access to the Students Rise Up Guidebook, with tools and resources to help you get started on your campus.
Don’t watch from the sidelines.
Be the spark. Be the organizer.
Be part of something never done before.
In struggle and solidarity,
Angel with Sunrise UMass and the Students Rise Up Steering Committee
