Dear john,

We are reaching the end of week three of the Republican government shutdown, and there is more information to share about this manufactured health care crisis that will happen if my colleagues across the aisle fail to act. Take a look below to see a comparison for what a healthy couple in their 60s paid for ACA coverage this year versus what they could expect to pay in 2026 if Republicans do not work with Democrats to extend the enhanced premium tax credits for marketplace insurance. Families in Georgia cannot afford this increase.

I am grateful for everyone who has opened up with my office about the impact these price hikes would have on their family. If you have additional health care concerns, please share your story here.

I also want to continue hearing from affected federal employees. If you can share your story about how the ongoing shutdown is impacting your household, please do so by clicking here.

Speaker Johnson continues to refuse to call the House into session so that we can negotiate a compromise to end this shutdown, but my Democratic colleagues and I are still showing up week in and week out on behalf of our constituents. This week in Washington, I took part in several activities designed to raise awareness about the impact of this shutdown and how constituents—no matter their political affiliation—will be hurt by exorbitant increases in their health care.

I believe that everyone should be able to see a doctor when they need to—and not have to skip rent payments in order to keep their insurance. House Democrats and I are united behind saving health care and hearing the stories of American people. Republican leadership is nowhere to be seen.

Members of the Democratic Caucus stand on the steps of the U.S. House behind a podium which bears a sign reading "Save Healthcare".

Thank you for staying up to date with my office during this uncertain time. For more local updates, please visit my social media platforms.

Talk soon,
