Backed by AFP partners, the new film “Young Washington” will reach millions of
students nationwide with a powerful lesson: that they have the agency to rise
from mistakes and achieve the American Dream.

‌

This is civics education in action: showing young Americans that civics isn’t
just something you learn, but something you live. Acting on our founding
principles is how we strengthen our country and one another.

‌

That’s also why AFP launched the “One Small Step” initiative to educate,
inspire, and mobilize millions of Americans toward civic engagement that
expands freedom and opportunity.

‌

At its heart, “Young Washington” tells one of the most defining and least
known chapters of Washington’s life — the moment he made a grave mistake that
helped ignite the French and Indian War.

‌

Instead of letting that failure define him, Washington learned, grew, and
became the leader who helped shape our nation.

‌

Directed by Jon Erwin, behind “American Underdog” and “House of David,” “Young
Washington” will debut ahead of July 4, 2026, our country’s 250th anniversary.
